As I sit here on a gloomy and cold first day of June, four words stand out in today’s Gospel reading: took, blessed, broke, and gave. Such telling words of what Jesus does for us and what we encounter as His disciples.
Jesus takes our sins upon Himself.
We accept His sacrificial love each time we say, “Yes” to His law of love.
He blesses and transforms our sins into opportunities for growth.
We are blessed by His love and become more like Him as we receive Him in the Eucharist
He is broken…bread is broken.
We are broken, vulnerable with the Lord,
giving this brokenness to Him brings us to wholeness.
He gives His all so we may live.
We give our all to Him in return and find true love, wealth, joy…life in Him.
Today’s great solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ Jesus or Corpus Christi is a beautiful day on which we remember the great gift of the Eucharist. Jesus is always with us, waiting for us to be with Him, talk to Him, seek Him, love Him.
May we allow our hearts to be taken by the Lord and consumed by His love to the point where we see only the blessedness of our brokenness so we too can give our all out of great love.
